Skiathos, the paradise of the aegean sea
Skiathos is an island of the Sporades Complex in the Aegean Sea. Skiathos Island, the home of Papadiamantis, the famous Greek writer, is just 2.4 miles from the coast of South Pelion and 4 miles from Skopelos. It has an area of 48 square kilometers, a length of 12 km and width of 9 km.The south side of the island has a large tourism development, while the north remains unexplored and wild.
Skiathos town is the only area of the island, which is busy. It is built on the southeastern tip of the island in a sheltered shore and Bourzi is just in the middle!
At the older neighborhoods above the old harbor, the houses are made of stone and built amphitheater next to each other! The narrow streets are paved with stones, called paths, kalderimia!!!
More than 60 beaches adorn Skiathos. Megali Ammos, Vasilias, Ahladies,Sklithri,Kanapitsa, Vromolimnos, Kolios, Agia Paraskevi, Troulos, Maratha, Banana, Agia Eleni, Mandraki, Elias,Aselinos, Kehria,Tsougrias, Lalaria are just some of the places worth visiting!
The most famous beach of Skiathos, Koukounaries, has declared the third best beach in the Mediterranean.

By sea, the island is connected with the city of Volos with ferries (2 hours and 30 minutes) and catamaran (1 hour and 40 minutes). From Agios Konstantinos is a hydrofoil (1 hour and 40 minutes) and ferries (2 hours and 30 minutes.By air, Skiathos is connected with Athens (flight time 20 minutes) with regular services to Olympic Airways.In the summer ,Skiathos has every day direct flights ( charters) from most countries of Europe. The airport is located 4 km from the town of Skiathos.
